TEMBOK,
sir,
With reference to your despatch No.84 of the
24th of March, I have the honour to forward to you a
copy of a medical certificate with regard to the state
of health of Police Constable W.G.Culliford. In view of
this report I have caused Mr.Culliford to be informed,
that he is retired from the service as from fise
2. I should be glad if you would in due course
inform me what gratuity may be paid to Mr.Culliford,
having regard to the causes of his incapacity for further
service.
3. I would observe that under the provisions of
the rule number 3, on page 3 of his leave certificate,
Mr.Culliford might, had he been entitled to a pension,
have been required to refund the difference between half
pay and pension for the period of his leave of absence
but there appears to be no corresponding provision in the
case of an officer whose service entitles him only to a
gratuity and not to a pension.
